NACTE Team visits Department of Education in IIUI, Pakistan

A team from the National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) recently visited the Department of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad for the re-accreditation of the BS Education program and accreditation of B.Ed Elementary Education program. More specifically, this 3-day visit included an external audit of the BS and B.Ed (Elementary) Education programs in accordance with National Standards for Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs devised by NACTE.
The members of the NACTE team included Prof. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Farrukh, Secretary, NACTE, Ms. Uzma Shakoor, Research Associate NACTE, while the evaluators were Dr. Ishtiaq Hussain, Director, Institute of Education and Research, Kohat University of Science & Technology and Dr. Aijaz Ahmad (Retired) University of Baluchistan, Quetta.

At the orientation session, Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson of the Department of Education (Female Campus) introduced the visiting team to faculty members of the department and presented details of respective programs and activities. Furthermore, the team visited both sections of the department i.e. female and male campus to further assess the quality of teacher education programs on the basis of accreditation standards and allied indicators. 

In a meeting of the NACTE team, the Rector of IIUI, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, applauded the efforts and mechanism of the accreditation process devised by NACTE. He also reminded everyone as to the importance of the education department in the university. Prof. Yasinzai further elaborated the need for quality oriented teacher education programs for the socio-economic development of the country. The Secretary of NACTE, Prof. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Farrukh, also highlighted the purpose of NACTE as which is to guide and facilitate the staff of teacher education institutions in order for them to conduct internal audits of their own programs and to eventually arrange the external audit/accreditation activities carried out by NACTE.
 
In the concluding session, Prof. Dr. N.B Jumani, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, Director of the Female Campus, acknowledged the visiting team and their valuable suggestions for the sustainable improvement of teaching and learning activities in the department. 
 
Chairpersons; Dr. Shamsa Aziz and Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani also appreciated all faculty members for their professionalism, dedication and team work during the entire process of documentation required for this external audit.
