The Department of Education and Directorate of Distance Education, International Islamic University Islamabad Pakistan shared information about the project and its activities during a session in an International Seminar on “Education for National Development” organized by Department of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad in collaboration of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan which took place on April 11th. The audience included teaching faculty, national and international members of teaching faculty and prospective teachers.
Professor Dr. Sufiana Malik, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences NUML and country representative NUML, Professor Dr. N. B. Jumani Professor of Eduaction & Director Directorate of Distance Education IIUI Principal Investigator from IIUI for BLTeae and Dr. Kezang Sherab Assistant Professor Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan shared the project introduction, the activities included in project and the progress of the project.
The project partners discussed the BLTeae project whose purpose is to support teacher educators’ professional development through Blended Learning based on innovative constructivist theories. It aims to build a European and Asian countries collaborative community capable to reflect on teaching trainers practices with the support of e-Portfolio and video as reflective tools. The partner institutions of 8 countries are working to improve teacher educators’ skills, with direct and indirect implication on quality of teacher educators’ skills. The team members told that they have developed modules for teacher education based on ICT and pedagogical approaches keeping in mind the demands of 21st century and paradigm shift towards blending technology. They shared the future activities of the project also. And said it is a service to the institution, society and country as it would help in improving the practices of teacher education by utilizing blended learning and ICT.
In the end Prof Dr. N. B. Jumani briefed that the activities of BLTeae is available on their website and on the page of IIUI website also. He thanked Prof. Dr. Sufiana Malik and Dr. Kezang Sherab for enlightening the participants of the international seminar about the project activities and the participants for taking keen interest in it with their active questioning and feedback.
